Dough bowl with historical pattern of overlapping circles is made from alder tree. This Dough bowl could be used as bread display, kitchen decor, or art piece. Very unique and heavy old world craftsmanship made from one big piece of timber.
Pattern source:
Motif of overlapping circles in various combinations was common on richy decorated, both Slavic and Western European, artifacts made of bone and antler, such as antler plaques on caskets. This particular pattern can roughly be dated to VIII-xii century. However, the motif has been prevalent in Mediterranean cultures in an unchanged form since the year 600 BC. According to the experts, the shape is reminiscent of aqueous symbolism.
