Wooden Hand Carved Dragon, Ringerike Style, personalized, Dragon wall carving, viking wall decor, viking room decoration, viking art, norse

This beautiful Dragon head wall decoration was made in Ringerike style. The carving is double sided ! The Ringerike Style was the last phase of Scandinavian animal art during the first half of the 11th century and in the second half of 11th century. It is named after after a series of richly carved stones in the Ringerike district of Norway, but most objects in the style are runestones in Uppland, Sweden, which is why some scholars prefer to call it the Runestone style. The style is characterised by slim and stylised animals that are interwoven into tight patterns. The animals heads are seen in profile, they have slender almond-shaped eyes and there are upwardly curled appendages on the noses and the necks. This item has been painstakingly hand carved from lime wood, then stained, sanded and covered in natural oils to protect it from dirt and add shine. If you are looking for an item with a soul this is certainly it. It will add character and history wherever you chose to hang it.
